The Kentucky Derby festivities open two weeks before the first Saturday in May with one of the largest fireworks displays in North America. On the night of Thunder over Louisville, friends and neighbors come to the overlook for an art show, musical entertainment, food, drink, and pyrotechnics. The Hut has featured some of Louisville’s favorite artists. Louisville legends King Kong regularly perform—and have been joined by many other local and national acts such as Twenty First Century Fox. The Squallis Puppeteers paraded for the first decade. It has become a tradition to gather at the Hut with friends as spring begins.
